Ugh! Where was our midfield tonight!? Heskey was easily our MOM , proving right Cappelo's choice to put him up front BUT Rooney wasn't in it tho. Feel sorry for Green, after a decent run in qualifying it was THE bad mistake at THE wrong time.

I thought Johnson looked dangerous down the right with Lennon but SWP was lacking ideas down the left with him losing out every time he tried to cut inside. Maybe Joe Cole would have been more effective?? Gerrard's early goal pumped him up for the first half but I don't recall much from him in the second half along with Lampard who had one moment with the forced save from Howard.

I'm not too disappointed as I had this one down for a draw anyway. They were an awkward team to play against, they played to their defensive strengths and they were a threat from set pieces, plus got a fortunate equaliser.

If we're to do anything in this competition then the link between midfield and attack needs sorting, there was too much reliance on Heskey winning the long ball and for me there's a big spotlight (again) on the Gerrard/Lampard combination.

TBH USA played for a draw and got what they wanted I feel England were poor and Rooney did nothing at all as everytime he got near a ball he was closed down by 2 defenders and Ledley King i think was a mistake as he is like a tampon 1 week in 3 weeks out. My major concern now is the Algeria and Slovenia games we need to score lots of goals to guarantee winning the group as I feel USA will beat them both as well so therefore our goal difference will be critical in this group now as the runner up from this group will more than likely face Germany and from how they destroyed Australia today I have gotta say they looked impressive and we would struggle to beat them.

I was surprised and happy with the draw..we didn't play very well but neither did you. I feel we'll fuk up one of our remaining games so 50- 50- on advancing...less than positive about our boys.(been around Preacher too much I guess..lol)

In fact we dont usually draw our opening games. France 98 we won and Germany 06 we won so usually win (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I feel that Gerrard was man of the match closely followed by Heskey but these 2 were the only 2 to get over 6/10 I feel.

Gerrard showed how world class he is with some brillliant tackles and second half although a bit quiet still produced some brilliant crosses for Heskey and Rooney of which Heskey should of hit the target and Rooney needed to be a few inches bigger lol. Just proves Gerrard needs to play in centre midfield to allow him to express himself.

Lampard should be dropped after another awful display, doesnt tackle, goes quiet for ages in games. Poor set piece taker..and empties midfield too quick. Stick Barry in to hold it to allow Gerrard to bomb forward in my opinion..Lamps Id drop.

SWP on the wing very very poor. Joe Cole for next game as he is bigger and stronger than SWP and doesntrun around like a headless chicken.

Lennon caused a few problems but too may times he doesnt deliver, I'd keep him on though.

Rooney very quiet but always going to play/ Heskey played brilliant but once again showed unfortunately he cannot seem to finish a chance for love nor money.

Back 4 looked shakey...I can see better teams ripping are full backs apart Johnson is poor going backwards etc.

However I felt that we still can do well and do generally raise our game against the better teams...the only worry I have is that in previous tournaments we have failed to score many but at least been solid at the back...as this time I can see us conceding a few...and im not sure if we have the resilliance to get back in games IF we fall behind...

For algeria id play:

Green(genuine mistake)

Johnson Carragher Terry Cole

Lennon Barry J Cole
Gerrard

Heskey Rooney

= 3-0 Rooney, J Cole, Gerrard
